Get the Support You Need
Learning your child is transgender is overwhelming in many ways. You have to adjust to a new way of thinking and talking about your child. You may have a new name and set of pronouns to get used to. In addition to all that, there is the emotional turmoil that comes with the transition your child and your family are going through. While all of that is normal, what happens when your faith community believes that being transgender is a sin? How do you continue practicing in a faith community that doesn't support your child or your family?
The Navigating Church After Your Child Comes Out Mini-Course gives you the tools to sort out how to move forward in your faith community after your child comes out.
Work At Your Own Pace
By the time you have completed the course, you will understand the difference between open and affirming, and accepting, know what to do if you’re not ready to start over with a new faith community, and have a plan for when people use religion against your child.
This self-paced course contains three modules: What God Says and What the Bible Says, Open, Affirming, and Accepting: What’s the Difference? and What Do I Do About…?
Additionally, the purchase of the course comes with access to a private Community.

Why Take the Navigating Church After Your Child Comes Out Mini-Course?
This is not a course for allies, nor is it for transgender people. Here's how to know if this course is right for you:
- You are a parent or caregiver of a transgender child (of any age) AND are unsure what to do next. (I've been there too. You're in the right place. Let's do this together).
- You are a parent or caregiver of a transgender child who Google searched 'welcoming church' AND was overwhelmed by the results. (You too? We'll cover all you need to know to get started and where you can go to find the one closest to you.
- You are a parent or caregiver of a transgender child who wants to start over at a new church AND doesn't know where to begin. (We'll start with how to know when it's time and end with what to do if you're not ready).
- You are the parent or caregiver of a transgender child who just came out AND thought you couldn't support your child because that's what the Bible says. (I will cover why this isn't true and give you resources so you can form your own opinion about it).
- You are the parent or caregiver of a transgender child AND feel unsupported by friends, family, or members of your church. (I'm sorry. We'll discuss this.)
Why You Need This Mini-Course
One of the most complicated things to navigate after our children come out as transgender is our relationship with our faith community. It's especially challenging when our Church isn't accepting of the LGBTQ+ community, and our children aren't welcome or accepted.
For many of us, belonging to a faith community is tied to our identity. It feels like an important part of who we are. The idea of leaving and starting over somewhere else brings a lot of pain and heartache, even if we know it's the right thing to do.
The idea of finding a new faith community can be overwhelming. Where do you start? How do you know if a church will be welcoming and affirming of your child and family? What do you do about the relationships with the people in the faith community you are leaving behind?
Questions like these are the reasons I created this mini-course. Let me tell you about it in this video.
Navigating Church after your child comes out can be complicated and messy, but you don't have to go at it alone. Are you ready to get started?
